The other day, I received a phone call from Bangalore from a guy who wanted guidance about choosing the right phone from among Nokia N8 and Dell Streak. It is a difficult choice to make since both price and phone specifications have to be taken care of. Nokia N8 is cheaper than Dell Streak by almost Rs. 10000/-. What does it make Dell Streak costlier? Dell Streak has a 5.0 inch screen and Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor compared to 3.5 inches screen and ARM 11 680 MHz processor. Proper processor power is lacking in Nokia N8. So performance wise Dell Streak is a better option.
For a person who is obsessed with Mega Pixels in Mobile Phone Camera, Nokia N8 is the ultimate phone which has 12 MP, 4000x3000 pixels camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and Xenon flash. Dell Streak has a 8 MP camera. But one has to ask whether 12 MP camera without a proper Optical Zoom is good enough. But it is the OS which makes a difference and Dell Streak with Android OS, v1.6, upgradable to v2.2 is clear winner over Symbian ^3 OS of Nokia N8 especially when the apps market is considered. After I informed all these points to the guy, I asked about the price factor. He told that Rs. 10000/- difference doesn't interfere in his decision making. So I told him to go ahead and buy Dell Streak. But, considering that Nokia N8 is cheaper by rs. 10000/- it also is a good buy with all the minor inadequacies.
